NEW: TIPS & HINTS

Tips and Hints for around the home and/or to take with you wherever you go

TIPS AND HINTS

June 13 and 14, 2005 we attended the Access Ontario conference in Burlington Ontario. We were part of the tradeshow, promoting The Bridging Group and especially web design for accessibility.

During the two days we met a lot of terrific people and had some great conversations widening our understanding of accessibility issues and shortfalls.

During one such conversation we got talking about the cost of many access tools, one lady showed me a tool she had in a basket behind her on the wheelchair, she said: "This cost me $20 at Canadian Tire, I shudder to think of the cost from any of the companies that cater to the disabled. (I'm not telling you what it is yet.)
I told of a handy devise we use on my father's walker that makes life simpler for him. Then someone said: "I wish there were a website with that kind of tips and hints."

So here is a start, we will rely on you the website visitors to send us more. Please sent tips and hints to Maianna at designer@itxp.ca. You will get a nice short thank you e-mail letting you know that your tip or hint has been added to the list. We will respect your privacy and don't send unsolicited commercial e-mail.

Tip # 1
The tool used by shop owners to reach items on high shelves, works marvelously for reaching and grabbing things that have fallen on the floor or are out of reach on counters, shelves etc.

Tip #2
If you are using a walker, but also need a cane with you. The doohickey used in closets for brooms and the like, (you know the one, the broom snaps into it.) A bit of black or duct tape on the front of the walker and you can snap your cane in and safely have it with you at all times.

If you would like us to review and reconstruct your website we offer full web design services, with built in accessibility.
