User with a laptop and a headacheHeadaches.

When your systems become problematic, frustration follows. Resources get directed to problem solving. We believe that  IT problems  should be transparent so that your efforts can focus on the business of doing business.

IT - NETWORK SECURITY.

laptop keyboard chained and lockedAre your operating systems, data and information private, secure and recoverable?
Would systems failures cause calamity?

We provide you with a security analysis report that addresses the two main issues facing all IT users:

  1. Internal vulnerability

  2. External (on-line) vulnerability.

We will review and report upon: Password management - systems & files, back-up and recovery routines, Virus protection effectiveness, hardware protection; and server security.

This review focuses on data integrity, information privacy and corruption vulnerability. The report will provide recommendations for instances of  potential security threats.

Beyond Viruses.

Viruses continue to proliferate and evolve. They can infect your system now when you merely open email; whereas not long ago it was necessary to open an attachment. Viruses are capable of stopping your computer from running. They are at best intensely irritating at worst costly, both in terms of dollars and in loss of data. Your system can be cured and protection set up to guard your system with daily automated updates.

Other newer spectres are upon us. Spyware, Addware and below an example we call "Malware."

Malware is formally described as "Malicious Software",  some call it "Malicious Code" malicious software is not generally designed  to stop your computer, but rather, to take it over in some form.

Some examples of malware or "Malicious Code" that got through to some of us here at Bridging Group in the past:

Example 1. A new client is due to arrive in 10 minutes. The plan is to meet at your computer to view a presentation. You turn on your computer to get ready for the client. To your horror, on your PC desktop is a window you have never seen before. There is a message urging you to "Click Now"  for Live sex talk. There are also some explicit graphics.

What has happened? You inadvertently visited a website, not necessarily a porn site and the malware installed itself, or it arrived in an e-mail attachment.
The intent of this particular Malicious code is for you to "Click Now", the computer then dials a 1-900 number - which costs you  by the minute -either you will "talk" OR worse; You don't have sound on, your computer dials the number, you have no idea that it is actually dialing, while trying to figure out how to remove the offending image from your desktop, minutes of 1-900 time is being added to your telephone bill. You are the victim of malicious code.

Example 2. From one of our staff:
"I was surfing for websites for stories of animals who's acts have saved human lives. I came across a website that had a long list of links to unusual and interesting items. Getting sidetracked from my quest, I started looking at unrelated links. One link was to a site with a series of photos of a large riverboat caught in heavy currents,  running into a bridge, knocking itself on it's side, being swept down the river and then righting itself and sailing on. Interesting shots. While looking at these pictures something installed itself on my PC. A new toolbar popped up in my browser, with buttons to "Adult News", "Live Sex Talk" , Gambling Sites and other such things."

Malicious code had just been placed on the PC.

Note: In fairness to the owner of the Riverboat images site, that may not be where it came from, it may have come from the site that provided the link.... or it may have arrived in an e-mail.

There are more serious forms of "malware" if you think that you are affected please feel free to contact us via email

The IT industry is grappling with this problem. We can keep you up to date and clear Malicious Code.

If your computer or network is behaving mysteriously you may want to do a forensic investigation for malware installation on your system.

IT - PROJECT APPLICATIONS

IT Project Application means - the development of unique systems to:

  1. Meet your information needs in a changing business environment
    and / or
  2. Provide for the ease of access to data and information used in projection planning / implementation and general brainstorming.

Business issues and opportunities can often be best addressed by a technology based solution. Organizations often find that what they want isn't available or what they bought doesn't provide the solution. They are then faced with the question "where do I go from here to get the solution and the best value for my needs."

Key Questions We Resolve:

  • What is it you are trying to accomplish - resolve a problem or implement an opportunity?

  • Is a technology solution the best approach?

  • Is the objective clearly defined so that the success of the solution can be measured?

  • What are the time and cost constraints?

Our focus is to assist you to improve performance and build sustainable competitive advantages through systems development that address: planning, managing and completing projects on time and on budget.

We also offer professional project managers to launch new projects, rescue troubled projects and assess project management needs. We can also manage projects that are beyond your current staffing levels.

NETWORK ASSESSMENT & PLANNING.

It is our job to ensure that you do not worry about your computers and networks. We deliver this by recognizing IT problems before they begin, allowing you to concentrate on your core business without the frustration of dealing with distracting computer and network problems.

We perform a complete review of your systems, software applications, hardware and connectivity and provide you with an assessment report. A few questions we resolve:

  • How compatible are your hardware and connection components?
  • How efficient are they in terms of your software applications?
  • How effective will they be tomorrow - considering today's planning?

Together with your critical input, we will document the current status of your systems and processes and provide you with recommendations to align these to meet your objectives. Such factors as growth, business diversity and market focus can significantly influence hardware and software requirements and overall systems interaction.
A few questions we resolve:

  • Do your systems interact to easily provide analysis data about business operations?
  • Can output information be easily restructured to provide different management perspectives?
  • Can operations data be accessed for projections and "what if" scenarios?

DATABASE MINING

Media attention has, not wholly without justification, portrayed data mining as a manipulative marketing practice that results in adverse and even harmful affects on customers. It is a term that means different things to different people.

Here's What We Mean:

Data mining is an intense analysis of a database to determine if correlations between and among data elements can provide new ideas, information or strategies that, once implemented, will contribute to the furtherance of your business goals. There are indeed ethical issues to be decided upon as a consequence of data mining. An issue can be as simple as "should we sell our mailing list?" Issues can, of course, be far more complex. Judgments must be made by organizations in their ongoing scrutiny of their ethical conduct in the context of all potential actions. Rationales derived from data mining are critical areas for this review.

E-Commerce:

One time donations are easily processed without e-commerce.

Cultivating donors who would like to donate smaller amounts monthly tends to give rise to increased processing costs that make administrators wonder if the effort is worthwhile.

Today's e-commerce technology can solve this dilemma and provide an opportunity scenario where only a problem existed before. The e-commerce application relates to donation collections via credit cards - on a payment plan basis.   The periodic collections, for example monthly, and the issuance of tax receipts can be fully automated. This saves much processing time and eliminates that need to remember to process the donation and issue the tax receipt.
Other applications could also be useful to your customers, for example - event attendee payments.

The implementation cost for e-commerce can be as little as $2,000.

E-COMMERCE.

Enterprise Organizations.

Would selling your products or services through credit card purchases over the Internet increase your revenue?

There are ongoing transaction costs that vary with transaction volume. These are generally offset by reduced bookkeeping and paper handling costs – invoicing, postage and managing accounts receivable. Because payments are transferred to your bank account the day of the transaction, cash flow improves. You receive monthly accounting reports to verify transaction activity.

SIGNATURE CARD MANAGEMENT

Check fraud is a growing concern for financial institutions. Banks require that customers' signatures be verified to their file signature, especially when large sums are involved. The problem for the bank and the customer is the waiting time required to verify. This time is substantial for the bank because of the cumulative effect.

Through the sophisticated use of digital images and new database technology, we have developed a unique signature verification system that saves time, money and solves problems for any financial institution. Our Branch System can speed customers through the line, working with your branch computer system to verify signatures at high speed.

Our systems are customized for each bank and each application. We apply our expertise to all types of accounts - Regular Savings, Statement Savings, Passbook Savings, Checking and Certificates of Deposits. This also works with Closed Accounts, Correspondent Authorized Signatures, and International Portfolios.

The system enables banks to keep complete current signature records at every branch at a nominal cost. It permits banks to offer a new convenience to customers, making them recognizable at all branches. Changes and updates are made quickly and efficiently. Time is saved, costs cut and productivity is increased.

Key Benefits:

  • Quality reproduction image of original signature cards.

  • Quick turnaround time.

  • Transparent to the customer.

  • Reduced document storage costs.

  • Retrieve images to multiple workstations simultaneously.

The system consists of three program modules bundled together. The first module deals with scanning  using a high quality, high speed scanner equipped with an Automatic Document Feeder. The signature card can be either pre-encoded or if not encoded, the image file can be saved as acct#.jpg. The second program module allows for teller access for look-up and printing functions only. The third module of the system is for administrative purposes and allows for editing of information and single item imports. This application runs on a Microsoft SQL server database and security is set at the server level.

How much can we save you?

PC TROUBLESHOOTING

PC Troubleshooting uses Microsoft XP at both ends to remotely access your computer while discussing the problem on the phone. Once the connection is secure, the problem can be addressed.

We install Microsoft XP perfectly. The cost depends on whether or not file transfers are required.

Remote troubleshooting reduces the cost by up to 40%. Example - virus clearance can cost up to $300 for a technician to attend to the problem on site. The same solution can be implemented remotely for under $200.
